University of Edinburgh - proxSafe flexx
The University of Edinburgh have „flexx“-ability in mind
Edinburgh University's security operations have undergone several recent improvements, including an office move and refurbishment. As part of these efforts Jim Stalker and Adam Conn, Head of Estates department, continue to invest and extend their proxSafe Key Management Systems, in order to minimize staff disruption.
As part of a long term plan, the introduction of proxSafe key management cabinets, has allowed porters and cleaning staff to carry out their duties with greater independence. There is now no need to continually interrupt the university's security staff by asking for keys - proxSafe has provided the ideal self service solution. By removing the need to book keys “in†and “outâ€, security staff are able to attend more pressing duties such as call outs to incidents in university buildings. For their latest proxSafe cabinet it was noted that large sets of keys known as “beat Bunches†could have as many as 40 keys on one bunch. This required more space between each of the slots in the cabinet. With a choice of three different keyTag arrangements, proxSafe flexx cabinets provided the perfect solution for optimization and value for money.
After consultation the university chose to mix the standard spacing panels and wide spacing panels. This allowed for the possibility of rearranging the layout later, should their needs change, and gave the university the total “flexxâ€-ability they needed.
