The Jan Yperman hospital - proxSafe maxx Key Management
24/7 Door Management for employees and visitors
Located in Ieper the Jan Yperman hospital is a fusion of three smaller hospitals and offers qualitatively high-minded multidisciplinary specialist medicine to cover the needs of patients in the region. The hospital has 569 beds, employing almost 1000 staff. The Jan Yperman hospital has all the usual issues of managing access to facilities and equipment in what is effectively (like most hospitals) open doors to the public 24/7. Everything from Boiler Room, Plant Room, Generator and Electrical Switch Control Room through to access to IT Servers and medical equipment has to be managed. Apart from security, Health and Safety compliance is a major issue; safeguarding that staff (and visitors) can only gain access to the facilities, equipment, rooms, drugs, medicines and even vehicles that they are authorised to use. For key tracking a paperwork key register system was used, an arrangement which was extremely inefficient and unreliable. Indistinguishable signatures, confusion over who was signing keys in and out, people forgetting to sign keys back in, and knowing who had access to certain keys, meant tracking keys offered many problems. All keys are stored in two proxSafe maxx system, one located at the reception desk and one in the emergency services. Since keys are returned in time, because people now know they are responsible to a reliable and secure system, they know there is no opportunity not to return keys because if they don't, the proxSafe system knows exactly who hasn't returned certain keys. Two proxSafe maxx systems on two locations, holding a total of 64 keys or key bundles. The credentialing technology used by the access control system has been embedded for high security. „No time lost anymore to find keys.“
